HAPPY TO BE HERE
Without a doubt, the happiest people on the night were  Nicholas Andrioli and Sofia Kajrup of Westwind Racing Stable, Pattersonville, NY. They own and train 3yo trotting filly Dreams Are Free.
"It has been my long ambition to win the New York Sire Stakes", says Andrioli. "This filly has fulfilled my dream. She has a lot of heart."
Her 1999 sire stakes campaign found her finishing 2nd 4 times.
Wally Hennessey drove the winner.
HAPPY OWNER
Kenneth Jacobs was a happy winner on this special night also. He make back to back trips to the winners circle with 2yo pacing colt Exporter and 3yo pacing colt Missile Mike.
Both were trained & driven to victory by John Stark, Jr.
HAPPY TRAINER
Stark shined all night as he set a record of 4 training New York Sire Stakes winners. He also tied a NYSS record of 4 driving victories. He shares this record with Wally Hennessey who accomplished the feat in 1994, 97, 98, and 99.
Fashionable Liv was Stark's first winner of the night. The 2yo trotting filly as odds on favorite in the first of the eight NYSS contests of the night.
2yo pacing filly Bunny Lake was $2.10 winner for Stark giving him his second victory of the night.
MORE WINNERS
Musical Bunny was the upset winner of the 3yo filly pacers. Trainer Bruce Saunder chose Jim Morril, Jr. to drive this part of his entry since regular driver Jeff Gregory was also the regular driver of Saunders trained Precious Prana. Musical Bunny is owned by Tenah Mereh Farms of Felton, Delaware.
C J 's Secret was the 2yo trotting colt winner. He was driven and trained by Dan Daily for Ann-Marie Daily & Robert Pergament of Florida.
Show wagering was for the 9th race was canceled for the showdown between Approved Action & Armbro Trick. The 3yo trotting colt crown went to Approved Action driven by Rejean Daigneualt. The exacta paid a slim $4.20.  John Grasso trains this colt for the John Grasso Stable of Hawthorne, NY. Approved Action nosed out Armbro trick 3 weeks earlier here at Yonkers
