Sunday July, 2 was a day filled with racing that brought together the best of yesterday and today with a peek into the future. Each division of the New York Sire Stakes was contested. The 15 race card included the Hall Of Fame race featuring 7 Hall Of Fame drivers. Clint Galbreth won the race that included Mike Lechance, Buddy Gilmore, Jim Doherty, and others.
Bo Gill was elected for his many years of harness writing in the Hudson Valley.
Anthony Abbitello brought the USTA van out to give the fans information and just talk harness.
Roger Huston from The Meadows was the guest announcer. This is his 5th year calling the event.
Fans along the back stretch were treated to a first hand look into the preparation of a big time harness event.
Congressman Ben Gillman was on hand to celebrate the event. He also kicked off the festivities in Monticello for the annual fireworks event at the track on Friday. He has been a supporter of harness racing for his many years in congress and said that he is working to bring better purses to New York.
